for the intercession of the Saintly Seven
To be canonized a saint, a person on the path to sainthood must have two verified miracles attributed to his/her intercession.
The miracles cannot happen if people don’t pray for their intercessions., and you can’t pray to someone if you don’t know about them.
We know the Saintly Seven are already in heaven, but what a powerful statement it would be to have one or all of them canonized. It would finally say to Black Catholics everywhere, that their history and contributions to the faith are not only recognized but celebrated. This act would serve as a beacon of hope, showcasing that the virtues of these inspiring figures are eternal, transcending time and culture.
Their canonization would reaffirm the belief that holiness can be achieved in all walks of life, and it would encourage young Black Catholics to embrace their faith with pride, knowing that they too can aspire to sainthood. Such an acknowledgment would foster a deeper connection within the community, inspiring a renewed commitment to their spiritual journey and a greater appreciation for their rich heritage.
We must share their stories and pray for them to intercede to God on behalf of us when we are standing in the need of prayer.
If you or someone you know who is in need of prayer, you can ask the VCRJ community to pray for them. We will run their names in two consecutive news flashes and add their names to our prayer list on the website where they will remain until you request to remove them. If you would like to pray for the intercession of one of the Saintly Seven, please also indicate below.
